How can I search for products more efficiently?

Tricks: There are several ways you can search for products more efficiently on the Procuron Marketplace:

  • Use any of the following fields in your search:

    • Item Description
    • Item Name
    • Supplier Name
    • Supplier Part Id
    • Supplier Part Auxiliary Id
    • Manufacturer Part Id
    • Manufacturer Name
Use the advanced search feature to search on fields that are not listed above.
  • International characters are accepted. For example, searching for doña is valid.

  • Precede a word + to make it required, or with - to exclude it. For example, searching on +computer -laptop LCD returns computers that are not laptops, and displays items with an LCD before any other matches.

  • Search for a phrase by enclosing all terms in quotation marks. For example, search for "blue pen" to find the exact phrase blue pen, but ignore occurrences of blue fountain pen or blue pencil.

  • Refine your search using Search Within Current Search Results. It enables the addition of search terms to the original search. For example, searching bookcase might return 100 results. Click Search Within Current Search Results and enter steel to find steel bookcases. Note: If Search Within Entire Catalogue is checked, the search on steel returns all results that contain the word steel even if they're not bookcases.

  • Results can be organized by relevance. A catalogue item that contains all search terms is more relevant.

  • Results can also be sorted by category, price, and supplier

How would I use Favourites?

Tip: Favourites lets you easily create multiple customized "sub-catalogues" that contain items specifically selected for your company. That way, you, or any other buyers for your company, can easily find and reorder frequently purchased or recommended items.

To customize Company Favourites:

  • From the log in page, click on "Catalogue Solutions", then the "Configuration" button, then the "Favourites" tab.

  • Once there, just search and add your favourites.

  • If you need any additional help adding favourites to the catalogue, click on "Creating a Favorites Category" within the Administrator section of the online training.

What's more, individuals can now create user-specific lists. Customizing My Favourites is easy:

  • From the log in page, click on "Catalogue Solutions", then the "Purchase" button, then search for items that you want to add to "My Favorites".

  • Click on to the "Add to Favourites" button beside each item in the catalogue.

  • A "My Favourites" category will now be included in the "Favourites" division, along with any "Company Favourites" that have already been set up.

How can you be sure that our prices are competitive?
Conduct a Sample Basket price comparison.

We've developed a tool that allows you to compare your price for a "common" basket of goods versus what you would spend with Procuron. Sure - you can often find a lower price for any one item somewhere in the market; however, on average you will almost certainly save money using Procuron.

In addition to the online price comparison tool, this link can help you assess how your procurement function is performing:

  • Could you streamline your purchasing processes?

  • Do you know where you're spending money?

  • Could you improve your purchase approval process?

  • Do you have a focus on indirect spend management? Should you?
